About Custom Woven Labels
A woven label is not an embroidered patch made smaller. Embroidery lays thread on top of a base fabric; weaving builds the design into the fabric itself, using threads far finer than embroidery thread. The result is flat rather than raised, thin enough to sit in a garment neck without scratching, and capable of holding detail that embroidery simply cannot reach.

Why woven holds detail embroidery cannot
The limit on embroidery detail is thread thickness — below about 3mm, letterforms close up because the thread is too coarse to draw them. Woven labels use much finer threads, which pushes that limit down considerably and makes small text, thin outlines, and dense detail practical. This is why care instructions, size labels, website addresses, and detailed logos are woven rather than embroidered. If your design has small print in it and you have been told it will not embroider, a woven label is usually the answer.

Label formats and folds
An end-fold label is folded at both ends so the raw edges tuck under, leaving two tails to be stitched into a seam — the standard for garment necks. A centre-fold label folds in the middle, giving two faces, with the design on the front and often care instructions on the back, sewn into a side seam or hem. A straight-cut label is flat with sealed edges and stitched on all four sides, common inside bags and on flat panels. Which you choose depends on where it goes, so tell us the placement and we will recommend a format.

Comfort against the skin
A neck label is pressed against skin all day, which makes stiffness a real consideration and the reason a lot of clothing brands have moved away from woven labels entirely. Damask weave gives the crispest detail but is the firmest; satin weave is softer with a slight sheen and less detail resolution; taffeta sits between the two and is the cheapest. For a neck label on next-to-skin clothing, satin is the comfortable choice. For a label inside a jacket or on a bag, where comfort does not matter, damask gives the sharpest reproduction of your logo.
